Each year Christmas time seems to sneak up on us!! With the holiday season in full swing make sure you don’t miss out on creating great memories with your loved ones. One of the best ways to do this is following a Christmas bucket list full of activities you love to do. Each year there are the “regular” items; the ones you ALWAYS do. We like to add a few new things to the list that we’ve never done or haven’t done in a while, just to spice it up a bit. This list can be as short or long as you’d like. Definitely don’t make it overwhelming, it’s supposed to be fun!! Here is a list of some things we want to do this year; our Christmas Bucket List:
Ice Skating-This will bring out the laughs for sure! Unless you happen to be an expert skater…then teach us all your skills! Anytime we go skating we leave with sore bums from all the falls, but we have sore stomach muscles from all the laughs too. 🙂
Build a Gingerbread House-Be creative with this! What we love about Gingerbread houses is the kids get “free reign” on the decor (AKA candy) they want to put on their house. Let their creative minds go! If they have a special candy they love, splurge and get it for them to decorate their house with. So many great memories are made building these houses. Our kids love this tradition!
Watch Christmas Movies– So many favorites out there! Some of ours are Elf, A Christmas Story, Mickey’s Once/Twice Upon a Christmas, Muppets Christmas Carol, Arthur Christmas, The Holiday (our FAVORITE!!)….the list goes on! We look forward to snuggling up with some hot cocoa and relaxing with these movies each year!
Go Caroling– Yes!!! Visit a nursing home, neighbors, anyone! A great way to lift someones spirits this time of year.
Do Service-This can be anything. Helping a neighbor, cooking a meal, finding the name of a child in need a buying a gift for them, whatever works for you. This is something that’s so important to involve the whole family. Let the kids help decide what to do, they will love having some input!
Make a Christmas Craft-This can be kid-friendly or not. We like to do at least one Christmas craft with the kiddos during December. Keep is simple..it can honestly just be a time set aside where everyone makes snowflakes or draws a Christmas picture. The dollar store has cute craft ideas if you happen to be very un-crafty like Karli 🙂
Decorate Sugar Cookies-A must! This is another activity that can be messy but so much fun…and so yummy! Then take them to your neighbor and you’ve already checked off two things on the bucket list! 🙂
What about snow?? We wanted the list to include EVERYONE, even those that live somewhere that doesn’t get snow! If you live in a snowy area, build a snowman, make a snow fort or snow angel! Run outside in your barefeet!! Then send us a picture 🙂
This season is full of love, kindness, and giving. It can fly by so FAST!! Too fast. This bucket list may seem simple, but it doesn’t have to be elaborate or spectacular to be memorable. Just simply taking the time to do it is what counts.
