This Crem Brûlée French toast recipe always reminds me of Christmas. Each year after the whirlwind of Christmas morning, my family heads over to my mom’s house for a special brunch. Arguably my favorite item on the menu is this Crem Brûlée French Toast. It’s seriously amazing! It just melts in your mouth with a gooey, buttery taste and slides riiiiiight on down to make my tummy so happy :). I can almost guarantee I’ll be going back for seconds….ok maybe thirds, no big deal! Lets get to it, heres the info you’ll need to make this awesome decliousness.
For this recipe you will need:
6 large croissants (I like to buy them from Costco, but you can get them at any grocery store) or the equivalent of that in smaller croissants
1/2 C butter
2/3 C brown sugar
3 Tbsp maple syrup
1 C half and half
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 C sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Melt butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup in a microwave-safe bowl or in a sauce pan. Pour into bottom of 9X13 pan.
Break up croissants into bite-sized pieces (2in X 2in is a good estimate).
Place croissant pieces on top of the butter/brown sugar/syrup mixture in the pan.
Mix eggs, half and half, vanilla, salt, and sugar together. Pour over top of croissants until completely covered and mixture is gone. It’s best to let it soak for a little bit before baking, but not a necessity if you’re in a time crunch.
Bake @350 for 30 min.
After baking is complete, let the dish set for 5 min or so to cool off. You can top with berries, whipped cream, or whatever you like. (Just plain is amazing too!).
Hope you enjoy this recipe! It feels pretty fancy; different than the everyday breakfast.
TIP: Try setting it up the night before, refrigerate, and pop in the oven the next morning. How easy is that?!
BONUS: It’s only 100 calories! OK that’s a complete lie, but it’s for the holidays and who’s counting anyway, right?! 🙂 Eat up buttercup :)!
Warm Holiday Wishes,
Karli and Angie
