When we were designing the bedroom for our garage apartment, one thing became clear pretty quickly: a traditional walk-in closet just wasn’t going to work. Between the window placement and the adjoining bathroom, there wasn’t a clean way to carve out a closet without sacrificing light or flow.
What we did have, though, was one long stretch of open wall space. Instead of forcing a walk-in that didn’t fit the layout, we decided to lean into a wardrobe-style solution—and that ended up being one of the best decisions in the entire space.
