How to Get White Baseball Pants Every Time
- Grab a big bucket (we love the 5 gallon buckets from Lowes for this) and your Oxyclean powder.
- Fill your bucket about ¾ of the way with hot water, as hot as you can without burning yourself.
- Put about a scoop of Oxyclean into the water.
- Then add all your pants. I usually do 4-5 pairs in our bucket.
- Add another scoop of Oxyclean to the bucket on top of the pants.
- Use your hands to mix the water and pants around for about a minute.
- Let your bucket set for 24 hours. This is the secret! Getting it well soaked and then letting it sit is the best for your white pants.
- Run the pants through your washer on the coldest heavy-cycle, and then dry as your tag says to. That’s it! Enjoy your white baseball pants.
Tips and Tricks
- If you have a particularly tough looking stain, you could get them wet and then REALLY scrub them where the stain is. This might loosen it a bit to make it easier to get out.
- Try to let your stain remover sit as long as possible. We seriously leave ours for 24 hours.
- Wash them as soon as you are home for the best chance of removing all the stains! They are fresher and haven’t sunken as deep into the fabric yet.
- For some baseball dirt that is really pesky, Iron Out also works great!
- Take it a step further and pressure wash your baseball pants before treating them, either at the car wash on the way home from the game or with your own pressure washer at home.
Best Way To Clean White Baseball Pants
When it comes to keeping those white baseball pants in immaculate condition, the best way to start is with a pre-treatment. As soon as you’re off the field and back home, tackle the stains head-on. Grab a trusty stain remover (we obviously love Oxyclean!) or a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water and apply it directly to the trouble spots. Gently rub the fabric together to work in the solution, but be sure not to scrub too vigorously, as it might damage the fabric. Let it sit to break down the stains before tossing them in the wash.
The secret weapon for the main event – the washing machine – is cold water. Opt for the cold water setting, as hot water can set in stains and cause your white baseball pants to turn a disappointing shade of gray. Use a high-quality laundry detergent and be generous with it. If your pants have seen some intense action, an extra rinse cycle can be a game-changer. And here’s a pro tip: adding a scoop of baking soda to the wash can help to brighten the whites and eliminate any lingering odors. After a successful wash, let your baseball pants air dry in the sun, as sunlight acts as a natural bleaching agent. And voilà, you’ll be amazed at how your baseball pants look as good as new, ready for the next game!
