Angie & Chad DIY Bloggers at How We Do share their DIY and home improvement projects

Hi, I’m Angie, and I’m a DIYer on a mission to show you How We Do (DIY and home improvement projects) and you can too! I do most of the projects around here, although you’ll see my husband, Chad, from time to time. He’s a busy guy, but I’m so grateful when he has time to help me. howwedo is better than howmedo πŸ˜‰

Pre-mom and dad life, we did DIY projects. I actually grew up helping my parents do some projects, so it’s always been part of my life. Once we got married and bought our first home, DIY became an even bigger piece. Chad’s line of work at the time was construction. His trade was a stone mason, but he also learned to do tile, granite, flooring, and more. We remodeled our first home including removing popcorn ceilings and retexturing, painting, installing new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, and new flooring.

Then we started having kids and built a new house. I was working full-time as a professor, Chad became a police officer, and our DIY projects gradually tapered off with our other responsibilities taking up our time. We still did projects here and there but nothing consistently.

Fast-forward several years and four kids later. I had just finished my last semester of teaching, our youngest started Kindergarten, and our once new home was ready for some updates. I was itching to get back into the DIY game.

So I created a DIY blog and hired Chad as my workhorse! πŸ˜‰ Just kidding….I really do most of the projects around here. Sometimes I wish Chad had more time to help, but I take what I can get. We got to work customizing our builder-grade home project by project.

That led to a new opportunity….we moved to a 118 year old small farmhouse on a ranch so that I could renovate it. We lovingly refer to it as “the ranch house”. We only lived there for about 10 months, but I was able to get a lot of projects done to restore some character back to the home, and our family of six learned to appreciate the coziness of a smaller home. Our kids loved ranch life with all the land and animals; prior to this they were basically city kids that had only experienced living in a subdivision.

Most recently we bought a beautiful, mature, well-maintained property a little further out in the country. The home is dated but it has good bones, and I have so many plans for it! I even have a separate workshop. We’re excited to make this our new home!

I believe your home should be a place you love, even if it’s not perfect or not your forever home. Whether you live in a 5th-wheel, an apartment, a farmhouse, or a mansion, you should enjoy your space! My goal is to share my projects, ideas, and how-tos with you and hopefully encourage you to make your home a place you love. DIY does not require years of experience; you just need the confidence and the motivation to try (and a few tools of course). And when you’re not successful the first time you learn to push past the fails and try again. I’ve been doing projects for many years, but I don’t know how to do it all. I’m never afraid to learn a new skill or try a new tool. I’m excited to share my knowledge and experience with you (as well as Chad’s), as we all learn along the way! Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my DIY blog! I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know us better and I hope you come back for a visit soon! πŸ™‚
