Kids’ Bathroom Before Pictures
To really see the entire wow factor in a DIY project, you have to see the before. As you can see, we had a very basic cookie-cutter bathroom that was downright dark, boring, and not kid- inspired. We wanted to give this room a whole new look and feel on a budget. With these simple DIY projects we transformed the kid’s bathroom to a beach-inspired oasis. And this bathroom is especially fun for my kids because it’s a reminder of their favorite family vacation to Hawaii.
Kids’ Bathroom Makeover
When it came to this project I wanted it to be bright, colorful, and inviting. Not only that, but I wanted to create a kids a bathroom that was for all ages that could grow with them for years to come.
The first thing I wanted to do was add a really cool wall treatment to the walls, so we shiplapped them. It was super easy to do and elevated the room immediately. Then I added natural-colored wood trim to give it even more of a casual, beachy vibe.
Next up was the floor. The old vinyl had to go! We decided to do a stencil technique and paint the floor. It surpassed all my expectations.
I wanted to do something with the tub, but did not know what I wanted to do right away, so I decided to do this bathtub accent with craft boards. We added polyurethane to protect the wood, but opted to not paint or stain them to keep that nice beachy look that I was going for in the bathroom.
I then tackled the counter top! No, we did not replace it, we actually did a faux marble finish on it with paint and epoxy!
We painted the cabinets a beachy green color called Lavish Green by Valspar Paint to really liven up the bathroom and I even built a shelf that we love to fill the gap under the counter!
Next we spray painted! Yes, Spray painted the bathtub fixtures gold to really make them pop, and swapped out the sink fixtures with this gold one. We added a few more gold featured like the gold mirror frame from Frame My Mirror and added gold lights, and wow! What a difference!
