Girls Bedroom Before Pictures
As you are about to see with these before pictures, the girls’ room was fine but it was nothing special. I do love the size of the bedroom. But with beige walls and a basic light fixture it looks pretty standard like most homes, and that is about it. I wanted to give my girls a place that they truly fell in love with and that they were excited to call their own. I promise if I can transform what you are about to see into a girl’s dream room, I know that you can too! All you need is a little bit of time to accomplish a few DIY projects, and you can create this all on your own.
Girl’s Room Makeover
When it came to the girls’ room, I wanted to give it a look that grew with them over time. I wanted it to be elegant, yet still girly, and I wanted it to suit their age. My goal was to make it every little girl’s dream room, and I am pretty sure I did that, at least for my girls. Think modern princess vibes.
I started by removing the closet door in their room and replacing it with this beautiful teal arch barn door. Not only did this project add a colorful statement piece to the room, but it also added more space to the room since you no longer need to account for the closet door opening and closing.
Next, I wanted to do a really traditional and elegant treatment on the walls that would complement the arch barn door. I knew I wanted to add some sort of box molding design to the room and I wanted it to be kind of unique; I absolutely love what I decided on. I combined regular box molding with arch box molding and chair railing.
It may not look very easy, but with the right tools and a little bit of time, you can totally accomplish this project.
I then moved on to paint. I let my girls help choose the paint, and boy did they do great! The paint color is Coral Mist by Valspar. After painting, we let it dry and waited for the final touches to the room to be done.
Don’t ever feel nervous when it comes to painting. It is one of the most inexpensive projects that you can do to transform the room into a whole new space. And if you end up changing your mind on the color, it’s a relatively easy fix.
I then hung new curtains, swapped out the light fixture, got new bedding that went perfectly, and a new rug for the space.
When the girls saw their new room completely finished, they were so excited. They still love it to this day, and so do I!
