Master Bathroom Before Pictures

To understand a true transformation, you have to start with the before pictures. This bathroom was pretty basic with painted white cabinets, a black laminate countertop, a shower insert, and brown tile around the bathtub. It did not scream come relax at all. I promise if we can take our bathroom from these before pictures to the end result, we know you can too! With some time, hard work, and a few DIY projects you can create a spa-like dream bathroom of your own!

Master Bathroom Makeover

When it came to our master bathroom, I wanted to create a timeless look with a modern traditional style. My goal was to make it inviting, light and bright, and spa-like; I wanted it to have a touch of elegance and class but not be overdone. I really wanted the details to stand out.

I chose a lighter tile and countertop while adding a light gray color to the cabinets and then going bold with the black floor. This was the perfect contrast, I felt.

Since I wanted to lighten up the overall feel of the space, I opted to do a DIY white concrete countertop. It’s a bit of an intimidating project at first, but it is very doable. We started with this first because it can be a bit messy. This is a great DIY project if you want to have the look of stone for a little less. I love the organic vibe the concrete gives off.

Next, we moved on to the tiling. We tiled the floor as well as the shower and around the tub. We went with a white carrara marble tile with really pretty veining in the shower, around the tub, and for the backsplash. I fell in love with it, and since we were tiling it ourselves, we could spend a little bit more on the tile we loved. And for the floor I chose this gorgeous black marble tile.

As we were working on these projects, we tackled the water closet where the toilet is. I added a box molding wall and painted it, and the results were out of this world. We are so in love with how it turned out, and it is so easy to do!

Next, I painted the cabinets. If painting cabinets is scary to you, don’t be scared! You can make any painted cabinet look amazing with the right tools and products! These light gray cabinets are one of my favorite parts of the master bathroom makeover. The paint color is Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams.

We finished the bathroom with new mirrors, knobs, and light fixtures. I’m a big fan of mixing metals, so we went with matte black for the faucets and towel bars and towel ring and then this gorgeous brushed gold for the cabinet knobs and pulls.
