I don’t know about you, but when things are chaotic, my mind feels chaotic too. Over the years, I’ve tried dozens of organizing systems, storage bins, and “miracle solutions.” What I’ve learned is this: the best systems are the ones you can actually install and maintain in an afternoon.
So today, I’m sharing DIY organization hacks that any woman can tackle in just a few hours, with minimal expense. And to help you go further, I’ll include a few of my more involved projects from How We Do that you can treat as weekend builds (but still start with small steps).

Organization Hacks Girls Can Do
I’m a big believer that you don’t have to wait around for someone else to organize your home; you can do it yourself, and it doesn’t have to be hard or expensive. I’ve learned that small changes make a huge impact, and sometimes just an afternoon is all it takes to turn a cluttered corner into a calm, functional space.
My heart behind sharing these projects is to encourage other women like you to jump in, get creative, and see how empowering it feels to tackle these DIYs on your own. If I can do it, you can too, and I promise, the results are so worth it!
Revamp Your Spice Drawer
Spices tend to become that messy drawer hiding in your kitchen. For a quick fix, pull everything out, group like spices together, and line them up so the labels face up. Use small risers, shelf liners, or leftover drawer divider materials to make tiers.

If you want to go the full route, check out How to Create the Perfect Spice Drawer in Your Kitchen. It walks you through measuring, labeling, and building a drawer that’s functional and beautiful.
Magnetic Strips, Pegboards & Hidden Hooks
One of my favorite hacks: mount a magnetic strip or slim pegboard in a drawer side, under a shelf, or inside a cabinet door. It’s perfect for holding small metal tools, scissors, tweezers, or even jewelry.

You can expand this idea by visiting my towel-hanging tutorial: How to Hang Bathroom Towels. In that post, I use simple hardware, clever spacing, and smart mounting tricks you can adapt for storage too — hooks, rails, and multipurpose bars.
Paper Towel Holder Install My Favorite Organization Hacks

Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference in keeping your kitchen organized. For me, that was finally installing a paper towel holder. Instead of having the roll take up space on the counter (and constantly rolling away), I wanted it mounted where it was easy to grab but out of the way. Here’s exactly how I installed my paper towel holder. It’s a simple project you can do in under 30 minutes, but it makes your kitchen feel instantly more polished and functional.
Reuse Jars and Tins for Storage
Reuse glass jars, tin cans, or small tins to corral hair ties, pins, paper clips, or small tools. A bit of spray paint, washi tape, or labels gives them polish. You’ll be surprised how cute an organizer can look when it’s customized.
Over The Door Storage
Utilize the back of your laundry room door by installing an over-the-door organizer. Often, the back of doors isn’t utilized as a storage solution, but they can be especially helpful in a tiny laundry room. This can be a great spot to store cleaning supplies, ironing accessories, or even extra hangers. Look for organizers with pockets or hooks for maximum functionality.
Floating Shelves
Installing sturdy floating shelves on the walls in any room can provide additional storage space. You can do this in a teen’s bedroom, a bathroom, or even your laundry room. I love the shelving we installed in my kitchen.

Garage Organization Solutions

If your garage feels more like a catch-all than a functional space, this project is for you. In my Garage Organization Solutions post, I share practical ways to use wall space, shelving, and smart storage systems to give everything a home. The best part? These ideas aren’t complicated. You can start small and build your way up to a garage that’s organized, accessible, and stress-free.
At the end of the day, organizing doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or take up your entire weekend. These simple hacks are quick wins that make your home feel calmer and more put-together and you’ll feel so accomplished knowing you did them yourself. My encouragement to you is to pick just one spot today, try one of these ideas, and see how much of a difference it makes. Little by little, these small projects add up to big change, and you’ll love the fresh, organized feeling they bring into your home.
