Supplies for Sewing Table Makeover

How To Makeover A Sewing Table

  • Start by removing the sewing machine from the table. Once removed time to sand the table.
  • Using a CRAFTSMAN V20* Random Orbital Sander sand the whole table giving it a nice fresh look
  • Roll on primer just to the top of the table. You will need to do a few coats.
  • Focusing on the sides of the table and legs. I added a gel stain since the pieces were veneer. Use a tiny paintbrush to apply paint around the edges and then a rag to apply to the larger areas.
  • Now add a faux marble look to the top of your table. After looking at some inspirational photos of what type of marbling you want start by painting veins with grey on top of your dried primer paint. Then immediately spray it with water and dab it with a brush. Do as many veins as you want.
  • Give the hardware a makeover by using rub and buff.
  • Lastly, take a white highlight paint and sponge it over the top of your veins. Seal with polycrylic or epoxy.

Tips For Flipping A Sewing Table

  • Purchasing a White Marble Epoxy Countertop Kit will help you have all the supplies you need to create a faux marble design. You can use this kit over and over for other projects. I used this when doing my kid’s bathroom counters.
  • If you don’t have polycrylic to seal the top you can use epoxy.
  • Use a light stain on the sides of the table if you don’t want a dark look.
